Katy grew up in Berkshire and her early vocal study was with Maldwyn Davies. Her love for singing and classical music was developed as a teenager with Wokingham Choral Society, who awarded her a Young Singers Bursary and with whom she sang in many oratorio works under the direction of Edward Gardner. She graduated with first class honours in music from the University of Southampton and was subsequently awarded a scholarship to study for an MMus in Performance and Musicology at Royal Holloway, University of London. She currently studies privately with Alison Pearce of the Royal Academy of Music and is delighted to have been awarded the Dame Felicity Lott Bursary from Royal Holloway to continue her studies.

Her recent solo performances have included The Magic Flute (Pamina), Suor Angelica (Nursing Sister) and The Magic Flute (2nd Spirit) for companies including Opera at Bearwood, Harrow Opera and Opera Nova. Future engagements include Despina Cosi fan Tutte for Harrow Opera. Opera scenes have included Le Nozze di Figaro (Cherubino), Cosi fan Tutte (Dorabella), and La Clemenza di Tito (Annio). In operetta and musical theatre she has played the role of Calliope in Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld for the Southampton University's Light Operatic society (Nuffield Theatre, Southampton) and the role of Maria in West Side Story.

Concert performances have included Michael Tippett's A Child of Our Time at Royal Holloway (conducted by Levon Parikian), Schumann's Frauenliebe und Leben and Britten's A Charm of Lullabies at Swiss Church (Covent Garden), the Picture Gallery (Royal Holloway) and the Turner Sims Concert Hall (Southampton).. She has sung in masterclasses with Robin Bowman, Susan McCulloch, and Adrian Thompson.
